Play Kingsbarns G.C 07:10 - 07:20 a.m.

8 caddies requested

Sir Michael Bonallack then Captain of the Royal & Ancient Golf Club was quoted "Kingsbarns might well be one of the last true links sites capable of development in Scotland. Mere words cannot convey just how extraordinary the place is. It must be seen to be believed, and once seen never forgotten". Kingsbarns Golf Links is situated 7 miles from St Andrews along 1.8 miles of picturesque North Sea coastline, where each hole embraces the sea.

Sightseeing Suggestion: Kingsbarns Distillery

Start your visit in our exhibition, exploring the history of the name Kingsbarns and by watching our film, explore the local area in the context of the whisky year. You can watch the story of our renovation of our farm steading unfold before seeing our first cask filled at the distillery nestling inside the doocot. Test your sense of smell by identifying the common whisky aromas intriguingly presented in cow horns. Your friendly guide will explain our distillation methods inside the distillery and then take into one of our tasting rooms for a tutored tasting across a selection of our whiskies.

Held the dramatic "99 British Open" won in a play off by Paul Lawrie after Jean Van De Veld made a mess of the 18th. Walter Hagen described this course as the best course in Britain. Watch out for the Barry Burn - Jean didn't - sand, rough and out of bounds. 18 holes, 6941 yards, par 72.

Sightseeing Suggestion: Glamis Castle

Glamis Castle is a living, breathing monument to Scottish heritage, hospitality and enjoyment for all. Play Gullane No.1 G.C 2:40 - 2:50 p.m.

8 caddies requested

Gullane No.1 G.C. Established in 1884, the well maintained greens, links grasses, numerous bunkers and sea breezes make a unique challenge for the serious golfer. The 3rd hole was recently voted one of the top 500 holes in the world by Golf Magazine (USA). The world famous view from the highest point of the Course on the 7th tee across the course and over to Edinburgh, Fife and way beyond is worth the green fee alone. 18 holes, 6466 yards, par 71.

Sightseeing Suggestion: Tantallon Castle

Set on the edge of the cliffs, looking out to the Bass Rock, this formidable castle was a stronghold of the Douglas family. Ascend Tantallon’s towers for spectacular views of the Bass Rock and to watch gannets plunge into the North Sea. Then descend into the depths of a particularly grim pit prison. The castle was home to the powerful Red Douglas dynasty, which often clashed with the Crown. It was besieged by both James IV and James V but was ultimately destroyed by Oliver Cromwell’s troops in a siege of 1651. Many artefacts are displayed to help tell its dramatic stories.
