Hidden Gem Golf Courses in Ireland: The South East

This tour covers the Counties Wicklow, and Wexford on the coast, Carlow, Kilkenny just inland from them. You stay at two outstanding golf resorts Mount Juliet Estate and Druids Glen. This area is off the beaten track for most golf tours except that golfers will detour to ‘The European’ at Brittas Bay, a world-ranked course. This area has exceptional quality golf courses, first-class accommodation and plenty to see. There is an opportunity to visit Dublin as an addition to the tour.

A Typical Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrive at Dublin airport, met by AGS Representative, collect auto or meet your private driver/guide, proceed to Mount Juliet Estate for 5 nights.

Mount Juliet Estate is a wonderful location for a luxury break in the South East of Ireland. Facilities include a Michelin Star Restaurant, a Jack Nicklaus Championship Golf Course and many more activities.

Day 2 – Play Bunclody, a beautiful course with fantastic scenery, a forest and the River Slaney. The finishing stretch through woods and along the river is memorable. Modern features are the circular clubhouse and an elevator to take golfers from the 17th up a steep rise to the 18th tee box giving a bird’s eye view over the river as you ascend. 7164 yards, Par 72.

Day 3 – Play Mount Juliet, often referred to as Ireland’s leading parkland course. The Nicklaus layout features - rolling fairways, water hazards and contoured greens that blend superbly into the spectacular landscapes around this unique estate. 7300 yards, Par 72.

Day 4 – Play Rosslare Old Course, a traditional links golf course with seven holes out along the coast and the remaining holes back many running parallel on sandy linksland. The coastal winds can make this course play differently every day. 6786 yards, par 72.

Returning from Rosslare to the hotel you may like to visit the world-famous Waterford Crystal factory and its stunning display at the shop.

Day 5 – Play the highly ranked Carlow Deerpark course, it features challenging undulating terrain, numerous elevated tees and several doglegs. Greens are small and slick and water hazards on the first, second, 10th and 11th can be challenging. 6025 yards, Par 70.

Day 6 – Drive to Druids Glen for two nights, playing ‘The European’ en route. The European Club is a world-ranked course and in Ireland’s top 5. It is located in tumbling dunes and features sweeping sea views with five holes running very close to the sea. This is a long links golf course at 7,377 yards from the tips. You can, however, choose from 6,795-yards, 6,194-yards or 5,434-yards.  

The 5*Marriott Druids Glen Hotel & Golf Resort is a luxury property in 400 acres of countryside between the Wicklow Mountains and the Irish Sea, yet only thirty minutes from Dublin. It has two championship golf courses, Druids Glen and Druids Heath and all of the facilities of a first-class resort.

Day 7- Play Druids Glen, a great and colourful course in many ways. The brilliant flora provides more colour than any other course in Ireland and provokes comparisons with Augusta National. The stretch from 12 to 14 wrecks many cards and is known as the ‘Amen Corner ‘of Ireland.   7434 yards, par 71.

Day 8 – Depart for Airport
