For golfers in Scotland August 2016

Edinburgh is buzzing with entertainment from August 5th to the 29th.

You can combine your golf with Edinburgh’s major festivals.

Edinburgh International Festival: The very best in performing and visual arts bringing world-class performances to Scotland’s picturesque and historic city. The festival offers unmissable opportunities to experience the finest artists from around the globe. Experience the very best international opera, groundbreaking theatre, electrifying dancing, intimate morning recitals and exhilarating evening concerts. Then there is the spectacular Fireworks concert. Make sure you do not miss the exceptional experiences at the world’s favourite festival.

Edinburgh Festival Fringe:
Each year thousands of performers take part using hundreds of stages in Edinburgh to provide shows for every preference. Some stars in the world of entertainment perform as do unknown artists looking to further their careers. The festival caters for all-comers and includes theatre, comedy, dance, physical theatre, circus, cabaret, children’s shows, musicals, opera, music, spoken word, exhibitions and events. In 2015 there were 50,459 performances of 3,314 shows in 313 venues, making it the largest ever arts festival in the world.

Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo: The Tattoo is a unique, unrivalled experience. It takes place on the esplanade, an 18th-century parade ground, of Edinburgh’s renowned Castle. Look forward to an unforgettable evening of music, ceremony, theatre and dance. Hundreds of performers, both from Scotland and bands and organisations from abroad, gather under the dramatic backdrop of Edinburgh Castle. The many spectacles, which take place on the esplanade, combine unforgettable shows of military precision, every so often a battle re-enactment, military bands, traditional dancers, and a stirring finale of mass pipes and drums, capped by the lone piper playing from the castle battlements.

Edinburgh knows how to have fun, and it knows how to make its million visitors enjoy their stay each year. It has a significant golfing history. The first-timer will initially be impressed with its architectural beauty. The winding streets of the old town, the soft tones of the sandstone buildings and the sheer impressiveness of the castle at the top end of the Royal Mile immediately set the city apart. More people travel to the UK to see Edinburgh than any other destination apart from London.
